Passion for His Presence

You know those days where the heat is sweltering and the sun is blazing hot? For me, those days are very uncomfortable. But the one thing that always makes me breathe a deep sign of relief is when you get those refreshing winds of cool air that blow across your skin at just the right time.

I can feel it now.

Something about that moment makes you forget the discomfort of the intense rays beaming down on you. You close your eyes and simply lean into it. Sometimes I wish I those breezes would last forever.

When I think about the tests and trials that life sometimes brings, they too can feel like the discomfort of the relentless blaze intensifying as the days progress. Sometimes there are days of heaviness, where your heart just feels so weighed down and where your mind can hardly think clearly. Whatever it may be, there’s one thing I’ve found that always leads me to breathe a deep of sign of relief.

In the presence of Jesus we receive a second wind. And another, and another. Our soul is refreshed, our strength is renewed, and the things that once weighed so heavily on our hearts, are lifted. In His presence there is such love, attention and care. In His heavenly embrace there is unmatched security and strength that holds us and promises to never let go. You close your eyes and simply lean into it.

Sometimes I wish those moments with Him could last forever.

One day, it will.

But until the glory of that Day comes, where I see my Beautiful Savior face to face, I will remain passionate for His presence here on earth. With each moment I get, I will draw near to Him with a sincere heart full of hope in His promise that He too will draw near unto me.

For truly in His presence is fullness of joy.

Psalm 16:11

“You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Psalm 27:4

“One thing I have desired of the Lord,
That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord
All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord,
And to inquire in His temple.”

Isaiah 40:31

“But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.”

Acts 3:19

‘Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,”

James 4:7-8

“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

Isaiah 61:1-3

“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me [Christ],
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
